NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! In addition to the officers’ positions, there are several opportunities to volunteer with East Lyme Babe Ruth, many of which require little or no experience and limited knowledge about official baseball rules. East Lyme Babe Ruth is a 100% Volunteer Organization that is proud to offer baseball to the youth from the towns of Lyme, Old Lyme, East Lyme and Niantic, and the generosity of volunteers who coach and offer their support to the league in a variety of capacities is the lifeblood of the organization. ELBR volunteers drive the success of the league, and bringing in new, dedicated individuals with the best interests of the players at heart is very important. Please contact any board member if you have interest in offering your time and talents to the league in any way. If you can’t volunteer, please be sure to say thank you to those who are able to do so.
NEW BAT RULE The Babe Ruth Baseball 13-5 Division has adopted standards for metal bats that limit the diamater of a bat to 2-5/8 inches (i.e., maximum diameter of 2-5/8"). This rule, a national Babe Ruth standard, applies specifically to the 13-15 Division only. Please keep it in mind if you are thinking of new bats for holiday gifts. The new regulation begins with the 2010 season.
FALL BASEBALL The fall baseball season has begun, and games are underway. The schedules are posted on the website. A reminder to players: should there be questionable weather, please check the front page of the website. Cancellations will be posted in the ticker along the top. Have fun, play ball!
